The second part of Gangs of Wasseypur didn't make as much money as was expected by the sequel.
Anurag Kashyup's ambitious two-part revenge drama Gangs of Wasseypur had its second part hitting the theatres this week. While the sequel to Gangs of Wasseypur collected around Rs 15.5 crores nett, more was expected from the film for various reasons. The first part had got phenomenal reception and expectations were rife from second. The film released on Wednesday thereby getting two more days for business. Also there were paid previews on Tuesday evening. The word of mouth was equally positive like for the first part, in fact somewhat better. Yet there wasn't a huge jump in business. Overall the film hasn't performed at par its caliber.
With Salman Khan's first film under the Yash Raj banner Ek Tha Tiger releasing this week, everything else in Bollywood will go unnoticed. Evidently there is no other release this week. Also the film releases two days in advance on Wednesday (August 15 - Independence Day holiday). Expectations are huge with this film and most multiplexes will run multiple shows of the Salman-Katrina spy-thriller.
