Jism - 2 Critic Review

Indian storytellers are now breaking out of conventional shackles, while avid moviegoers are stepping into cinemas to view stories rarely attempted before.

JISM 2, an erotic thriller, is touted as the boldest film [in that segment] to hit the Hindi screen, but the question that crosses your mind is, does it boast of a captivating story as well? Do you carry the film and the characters in your heart once you exit the auditorium? Most importantly, do you reminisce about it? Does it have recall value? Or does one forget about it the moment the show concludes?

Although JISM 2 is the second installment of the 2003 hit that starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, there's a huge disparity between the two films. JISM 2 is visually stunning, the aesthetics are just right, but the voyage of a woman from the lust bazaar who markets desire is far from perfect. The lackluster screenplay of JISM 2 is its biggest undoing!

The star of the show is, without doubt, Sunny Leone. People are looking forward to watching JISM 2 for Sunny, erotica and a generous dose of skin show, in that order. In fact, a wide section of moviegoers might frequent the cineplexes to watch Sunny alone, but for another segment it could be erotica. As the reels unfold, you realize that Sunny delivers as an actor. Unfortunately, the script doesn't.

The other issue is that the story of JISM 2 unfolds at a leisurely pace, which shouldn't be the case if it's meant to be a thriller. Also, it gets too verbose and talk-heavy after a point, with Randeep Hooda's character delivering idealistic lines that test your tolerance. Notwithstanding the blemishes, the fact remains, the curiosity to watch Sunny Leone will act as its savior.

A porn star, Izna [Sunny Leone], is entrusted the responsibility of luring a dreaded assassin, Kabir [Randeep Hooda]. The people behind the task are two intelligence officers, Guru [Arif Zakaria] and Ayaan [Arunoday Singh], who need to recover some vital data from Kabir. Izna has to confront her bitter-sweet past, but the problem arises when Ayaan falls in love with her. She has to make a choice!

There's no denying that Pooja Bhatt has extracted an arresting performance from Sunny Leone. But the screenplay plays a complete spoilsport. This could've been a convincing take on obsession, vengeance and infidelity, but there's hardly any movement in the story. Plus, a few questions remain unanswered [How does Sunny get into the porn trade? When does Arunoday have a change of heart and fall in love with Sunny?]. Besides, the film is stretched without much reason in its post-interval portions. Additionally, you don't have compassion for any of the characters, as the film draws to a close.

The music of JISM 2 is soothing and soulful. The emphasis is clearly on melody here. The cinematography is top notch. The DoP captures the lush green locales of Sri Lanka magnificently.

Sunny Leone is dazzling to look at and has an incredible body, but does she deliver as an actress? To start with, Pooja has, very smartly, cast her as a seductress. Sunny's gestures, body language, erotic scenes and sex appeal are, unquestionably, far more seasoned than most divas, who restrain a sort of hesitation when it comes to steamy scenes. She is scorching hot in JISM 2 and takes the heat percentage to an altogether different level. Sunny's maiden attempt at acting comes across as confident and charming, but, at the same time, there is scope for improvement, especially during the emotional moments.

Despite Sunny and the hype adjoining her, Randeep enacts a pivotal character with aplomb. In fact, Randeep has lucratively carved a niche for himself, creating a space of his own with films like ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI, SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER and JANNAT 2. He pitches in another striking act in JISM 2. Arunoday tries hard, but is not convincing enough. Also, he is awfully awkward and ill at ease in sequences that require him to breakdown emotionally.

Arif Zakaria is a name you correlate with competent performances and he is effective in this one as well. Sumeet Nijhawan gets limited scope. Imran Zahid is hardly there.

On the whole, JISM 2 has Sunny Leone as its USP, but the lackluster screenplay and the sluggish pace act as deterrents. However, Sunny Leone in the driver's seat, coupled with a generous dose of skin show and erotica, besides an attention-grabbing title, should act as a honey-trap to lure the audiences. But how one wishes this jism had soul as well!

Ranbir fined Rs. 200 for smoking in public

When Ranbir Kapoor sets the screen on fire, he gets applauded. And when he sets the ciggy on fire, he gets fined. And this time round, he has been fined Rs 200 for smoking in public by the district court. Readers maybe aware that Ranbir was accused of violating the Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act after a local daily published images of Ranbir smoking on May 28, while shooting for his upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

A certain Harish Vaishnav lodged a complaint at a local court in Udaipur, which resulted in Ranbir being summoned on June 26. And since it couldn't be delivered to him by the date, the court fixed July 26 for his appearance, on which day his lawyer K.K. Purohit, who paid the fine amount in the absence of the actor, accepted that Ranbir did smoke in public but it was part of the film. He also assured that this will not be repeated.

Delhi In A Day

What's the movie about
Delhi In A Day is a comedic portrayal of upper-class Delhi society, examining class differences in the context of a nouveau-riche...
Having risen from relative obscurity to obscene wealth through a series of nefarious import/export deals, the Bhatia family resides in a palatial mansion in South Delhi. Mukund (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), jovial patriarch of the family, struggles to balance the demands of a successful career with the continually expanding needs of his pampered family. Kalpana (Lillete Dubey), his boisterous and sharp-tongued wife of 30 odd years, commands an over-staffed and disorderly team of servants, comprised of: Rohini (Anjali Patil), a nineteen year old girl who dreams of stardom in Mumbai; Udai-Singh (Dinesh Yadav), the semi- alcoholic cook eager to prove his talents in world cuisine; Chottu (Arun Mallick), an over-excitable and effeminate butler of sorts; Venkat and Nataraj, two meek South Indian drivers who are overwhelmed by life in Delhi; and Raghu (Vidya Bhushan), who has practically helped raise Jai and Madhu, Kalpana's teenage kids, over the last two decades.

When Jasper (Lee Williams), the idealistic son of an important British business associate, arrives in Delhi to begin a tour of India he is quickly overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the city as well as the contradictions and nuances of the colorful manner in which his hosts, the Bhatias, conduct their lives . As he is drawn into household dynamics, he slowly begins to find his presence has upset the natural order of things and that his first day in Delhi might just prove to be more than he bargained for.

Delhi In A Day is a comedic portrayal of upper-class Delhi society, examining class differences in the context of a nouveau-riche, contemporary Delhi family home.

Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor's wedding: A National joke or a Rajya Sabha debate?

Saif, Bebo's wedding: National joke or a Rajya Sabha debate?

Here comes the Bollywood's so-called lovebirds Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, whose wedding news has become either a national joke or a Rajya Sabha debate. We have so far witnessed both Bebo and her sweetheart Saifu, making different claims about their much-awaited wedding. While Saif's ever-playing nature with the media remains constant, Kareena tries to flaunt her no care attitude on what the world thinks about her marriage.
During a recent interview with the NDTV, when Kareena Kapoor was again attacked with the same old wedding questions, Kareena said that her wedding has now become a "Rajya Sabha debate". She further said, "Everything I do, becomes a national issue."
On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan's mother Sharmila Tagore again confirmed that Saif-Kareena will get married in October. But, she was reluctant to confirm the exact wedding date. Sharmila further advised the media to ask Saif about the exact date. Well Sharmila ji, we aren't that crazy to make a fool out of ourselves by approaching Bebo and Saifu about any sort of wedding queries, since we are aware of the Chhote Nawaab's habit of playing around with the press. Keeping all this drama-shama in mind, what should we exactly call this wedding - A NATIONAL JOKE or a RAJYA SABHA DEBATE?

Ek Tha Tiger roaring: Can Joker stop it at Box Office?

Can Joker beat ETT record at Box Office?

Akshay Kumar has already scored double centuries with his previous movies like Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore in 2012. The Bollywood actor is coming back with another mass entertainer. Akki's upcoming movie Joker, which slated to hit the screens on August 31, is all set to silence the roaring of Ek Tha Tiger. What are its highlights?
Directed by Shirish Kunder, Joker is a fantasy adventure film, which is being released in 3D across the globe. The aliens created through special effects are going to be one of its major highlights. Secondly, this film brings back the wonderful chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha to screen after the huge success of Rowdy Rathore. Their chemistry will be another attraction of the film.
Although Joker is described as a scientific fiction, director Shirish Kunder has managed to include all mass masala elements like comedy, action, sentimental sequences and good music in the film, which even has a item number 'Kafirana'. Chitrangada Singh has performed the item song, which is going to be another highlight. The film is also going to be a laughter riot.
The movie Joker revolves around the story a NASA scientist of Indian origin Agastya and his wife find themselves on the road to Paglapur, a village of an asylum inmates, who broke loose, drove away the villagers and established their own republic in 1947. Agastya is working on a top secret project for creating a device to communicate with aliens. So why is he in a village, which has been completely disconnected from the whole world for the past 60 years? The rest of the story is an answer to this question.
However, it should be recalled here that during the release of Ra.One, Shirish Kunder had laughed off and said that his next movie Joker would be better than Shahrukh Khan's last film, which has joined the league of 100 crore movies. Now, Joker is set to release on this Friday, one can not stop ask these questions: Will Joker be really better entertainer than Ra.One? Will it break the record of Ra.One?
Moreover, Ek Tha Tiger, which has set several new records at the Box Office, is still doing well at the ticket windows. Will Joker stop the roaring of the Tiger at the collection centres? Will the movie break its collection records? Only time can answer all these questions. Stay locked to Box Office reports to read about its collection.

Is Shahrukh Khan cosying up to Katrina Kaif?

Is Shahrukh Khan cosying up to Katrina Kaif?

We spotted Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif getting too close for comfort on the sets of Yash Chopra’s romantic flick

We know that Shahrukh Khan doesn’t kiss his heroines. But look at this picture and you will be surprised to see how dangerously close SRK is to Katrina Kaif in what can be called a tight spot in a small lane. This picture has come straight from the sets of Yash Chopra’s upcoming unnamed production starring SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
The superstar and Kat were in London recently to shoot the film. And just when people are talking about the unusual pairing of SRK with Katrina, the King Khan, it seems, is trying too hard to prove a point – that he’s the ultimate romantic hero of B-town. Are Kat and SRK struggling to make their on-screen chemistry look explosive?
Forget about chemistry, this picture has invoked a sense of fear in us. We wonder what will happen if the ultimate bhai of Bollywood Salman Khan sees his ex-lady love getting up close and personal with his arch-rival. And just when it seemed as if there could be peace made between the estranged super-heroes, no? The explosion then will be much bigger than any the Tiger set off! Right, BollywoodLifers?

Movie review: Shirin Farhad Ki Toh nikal Padi

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi poster

Cast: Boman Irani, Farah Khan
Direction: Bela Bhansali Sehgal
 Rating:

Size does matter. More so when you are pushing the small-budget love story of a 45-year-old hero and a 40-something heroine who aren't exactly six-pack and size zero. In a film that sets out to twist the Bollywood rom-com, the heroine's cup size does matter. It plays an important role in setting off the box-office friendly laughs.
Conveniently, the hero is a lingerie salesman. Farhad Pastakiya (Boman), 45-year-old Parsi nice guy, who makes a living selling bras and panties, could otherwise be imagined as the hero/heroine's mama/chacha/affable neighbour in your regular Hindi flick but here he is playing the lead star. Debutante director Bela Bhansali Sehgal imagines an unusual heroine, too. Farah Khan in her acting debut enters Farhad's mindspace as Shirin Fugawala, Size 36B (he is an expert at 'sizing up' women since that's the only job he has known). The film gets going with their romance.
It's a quirky twist to the much-abused Bollywood rom-com movie actually. Taking away the filmy lovers from the stereotypes of cool campuses and exotic locales, the film imagines a tale of middle-aged mush in middle-class Mumbai.
Despite the odd-couple novelty, the film's storyline very much sticks to norms. The deal you get is simple: hero and heroine fall in love, there is family objection, and the lovers must try and unite against all odds.
So Farhad, whose only real interaction with women is limited to his bossy mother (Daisy Irani) and grandmother (Shammi), must deal with an obvious problem. The strongwilled Shirin starts affecting his life. Worse, his mother cannot stand Shirin and isn't ready to accept her.
The romance of an aging couple isn't exactly new in Bollywood. The Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia dud Pyaar Mein Twist comes to mind, as also the Dharmendra-Nafisa Ali track in Life In A Metro. What Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi does is serve the formula without taking itself too seriously and without letting things ever get too heavy.

The deadly duo: Farah Khan (left) and Boman Irani
If Bela cleverly retains all rom-com basics, there are also the indulgent winks at genre cliches - typified best in a peppy song that spoofs DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Hum Aapke Hain Koun. The forty-something romance is not said stuff either, what with the naughty lingerie jokes coming in.
Despite narrating a fairly predictable tale of love, the film works for the brilliant moments that the script provides. Bela's brother Sanjay Leela Bhansali, incidentally also the producer of this film, has penned quite a few scene stealers for the lead couple. Boman and Farah score full marks with chemistry.
It's a crazy ride guaranteed to leave you grinning as you leave the cinema. That makes it worth a watch.

Sonakshi Sinha begins shooting for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel

Sonakshi Sinha

It seems that here is no breathing space for Sonakshi. After wrapping up Son of Sardar with Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha has already started shooting for the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 shoot started today! cannot wait to join my team shortly and start work on this film... positivity all around! am loving it," Sonakshi tweeted Wednesday.

The sequel also features Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre.

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger box office collections

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger has indeed broken all records. In less than a fortnight, it has grossed over Rs.200 crores! So besides creating the record of the highest opening day ever with a Rs. 32.92 crore, the film also managed to break all opening weekend records.

Besides, the Kabir Khan-directed film co-starring Katrina Kaif creates a new record for the fastest Rs. 100 crore earning at the box office. And so far, it has crossed the Rs.200 crore mark too. Seems like Ek Tha Tiger could soon break the record haul of 3 Idiots, which was Rs. 385 crore, too.

"The film has opened to a crazy response, so there are chances that the total box office collection will increase.

Since the film was strategically released on a week that included Independence Day as well as Eid, it had an advantage," said trade analyst Vajir Singh.

The film released on August 15, 2012.

Mystery behind Katrina's red tilak revealed!

Katrina Kaif recently grabbed headlines not for her performance in Ek Tha Tiger but for the tilak she sported at private screenings of this film.

According to sources, the tilak was nothing more than a religious one, applied to her forehead during a pooja she attended.

Katrina Kaif is these days celebrating the unprecedented response her recent film Ek Tha Tiger is receiving.

No sequel to Ek Tha Tiger

Despite the ending of Salman Khan starrer superhit film 'Ek Tha Tiger' leaving a scope for a sequel, the makers have denied any such move.

"We have not thought of a sequel for 'Ek Tha Tiger'. We don't have any idea (story line) for the sequel," Kabir informed.

Even the producers have denied making a sequel. "With the success of the film, it would be the obvious conclusion for anybody to assume that the film deserves a sequel. However, as of now, there are no such plans and it is more conjecture," Yash Raj Films' vice president (marketing and communications) Rafiq Gangjee said.

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger grosses Rs.155 crore

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Ek Tha Tiger has indeed broken all records. Going by the reports, the film has grossed Rs.155 crore till now. The film, released on August 15, was screened at 3300 screens across the country.

In fact the Kabir Khan directed also creates a new record for the fastest Rs.100 crore earning at the box office.

The film also stars Girish Karnad, Roshan Seth and Ranveer Shorey. The story is written by Aditya Chopra.

The film has eight tracks, a mix of compositions by Sajid-Wajid, Sohail Sen and Julius Packiam.

The 46-year-old actor plays a RAW agent in Ek Tha Tiger and he says he chose the film not because of the banner or star cast but because of the script.

Salman says he likes it when his movies are larger than life and whether its romance, drama or action, he will continue depicting heroism. In his 24-year-old career, it is for the first time that he has teamed up with Yash Raj Films.

Seems like Ek Tha Tiger will soon cross Rs. 200 crore in less than a fortnight and could well break the record haul of 3 Idiots, which was Rs. 385 crore.

TOP 10: Salman Khan's biggest hits!

salmankhannice7.jpg
What happens when Barjatya boy Prem goes Dabangg and turns into Tiger? Well he becomes a hit machine, like our very own Salman Khan. With the success of Ek Tha Tiger, Salman has hit the jackpot for the fourth time in two years.
Salman's transformation from a quintessential lover boy to the angry young man of today has taken place within a span of three years. It all started with Prabhu Deva's Wanted (2009). His dialogues (Ek baar jo maine commitment kar li to phi main apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta) as well as his stunt scenes in the film became a rage and a new Salman Khan was born who preferred smashing heads to romancing a girl.
The real turning point came with Abhinav Kashayp's Dabangg. Salman Khan's cop act opened to full houses and amassed big moolah at the box office. His success run continues with Ek Tha Tiger.
Here's listing the actor's 10 all-time hits that will be remembered for times to come:

MAINE PYAR KIYA (1989): It was the first solo film of Salman 'Prem' Khan and goes back to the era when the actor's declaration of undying love for Bhagyashree captured the imagination of millions of Bollywood lovers. It was 23 years back that Sallu signed his first Rajshree film with Sooraj Barjatya. The film went on to become the biggest hit of the year and the second biggest hit of the decade.

HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN..! (1994): Five years after the release of his debut movie, Salman Khan did the Prem act again in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! The film starring Madhuri Dixit as the female lead not only strengthened the actor's lover boy image but also went on to become one of the biggest Bollywood hits ever. The film won 5 Filmfare Awards and also won the National Award for being the most popular film of the year.

JUDWAA (1997): Salman Khan portrayed double role for the first time in David Dhawan's Judwaa. The film paired him opposite Karisma Kapoor and Rambha. Salman plays the quiet Prem and naughty Raja. He portrayed both the roles with ease.

PYAAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA (1998): More than anything else, the film is remembered for Salman's shirtless act. The song Oh Oh Jaane Jaana became a rage. The film paired him opposite Kajol. The music was the USP of the film. It also starred Arbaaz Khan and Dharmendra.

BIWI NO.1 (1999): Prem showed a different shade of himself in David Dhawan's Biwi No 1. From lover boy, he turned cheater boy. Well the actor plays a character who has an extra-marital affair. The title role is played by Karisma Kapoor and Sushmita Sen is the doosri aurat. The film was the biggest hit of 1999. It is reportedly the remake of 1995 Tamil film Sathi Leelavathi. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Tabu.

HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM (1999): Playing the role of Sameer, Salman Khan displayed several shades of emotions in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film. The movie was the perfect mix of romance and tragedy. Salman made sure he did justice to both. The film that also starred Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgn, was critically acclaimed.

TERE NAAM (2003): Salman Khan delivered an exemplary performance in Tere Naam opposite Bhumika Chawla. He played the role of Rade Mohan, who falls in love with a college student Nirjara (Bhumika Chawla). After a head injury, he loses his mental balance and is admitted to an asylum. The film is an out-and-out tragedy movie that took Salman's acting prowess to another level.

WANTED (2009): Salman's dying Bollywood career got revived after the success of Wanted. The film gave him an image make-over as well as a fresh start in Bollywood. The film is about a young IPS officer, who goes undercover as a gangster to infiltrate the criminal underworld. Ayesha Takia starred opposite Salman in the film.

DABANGG (2010): Dabangg changed everything for Salman. He became a sensation overnight. Salman played the role of Chulbul Pandey. The film marks the debut of Sonakshi as an actor, Arbaaz as a producer and Abhinav Kashyap as a director. Made with a budget of 30 crore, Dabangg went on to gross 215 crore worldwide and the film was declared an all-time blockbuster in the second week of its release. It is the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2010 and, as of 2011, the third highest–grossing Bollywood film of all time.

BODYGUARD (2011): Thanks to Salman Khan mania, the film became the highest opening day grosser as well as the biggest grosser ever for a single day. Ek Tha Tiger has broken the opening day record now. It is the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor.

Advance booking started for Aamir Khan’s 'Talaash'

The makers of "TALAASH" are hopeful that it will turn out to be a blockbuster hit. Hence the advance ticket booking for it has started more than 100 days prior to the release. This also confirms that the release date won’t be pushed any further back. The film which stars Amir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor, was slated to be released in December 2011. However, due to Amir’s television debut with ‘Satyamev Jayate’, its release date has been moved around a lot.
In January 2012, a teaser trailer of it was released in the theaters. He gathered good response from the public. The date for its release was said to be on June 1st, 2012. It did not take place. Producer Ritesh Sidwani said the next release date would be November 30. With the advance booking starting now, it seems to be so. It also been said that the story had some resemblance Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahanni’. One of the reasons it was delayed.
As a source close to the movie said, “Never before has this happened for any Bollywood film but perhaps this is Aamir's way of making an announcement quite loud and clear. At many multiplexes across major centers in the country, the film's advance booking has already opened for November 30. While patrons were in for a surprise when they realized that they could book tickets for ‘Talaash’ well in advance, it is also a way for producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani to gauge audience curiosity much in advance.”
‘Talaash’ is one of the most anticipated movies of 2012, much more than Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Agneepath’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Though Amir had acted in his wife Kiran Rao’s film ‘Dhobighat’, this movie would see him in a full-fledged role after ‘3 idiots’. He plays the role of a police officer in the movie. Amir has also co-produced the movie along with Ritesh and Farhan Akhtar. Known to keep the secrecy around his movies, nothing about the story has been divulged.
The script has been co-written by Reema Katgi and Zoya Akhtar. Reema is also the director of the movie. Her earlier movie ‘Honeymoon travels pvt. Ltd. has had a limited success at the box office. The shooting for the movie began in March 2011 and was completed by August. It’s shooting took place at Mumbai and Pondicherry.
Aamir’s fans are really happy with the advance booking. Hope it is on par with their expectations.

Sonu Nigam gets choosy

sonu nigam 200x215 Popular singer Sonu Nigam, who has sung several hit tracks in  Bollywood.says he has become choosy with the kind of songs he wants to sing and doesn’t like giving voice to every other song.
“For the last five years, I have controlled myself completely and I think one should work with only such people where there is a bonding and good work,” said Sonu, who has recently sung the title track of Shirish Kunder’s “Joker”.
“So I do good work with good people, who gel with me. I have simplified my life a bit too and put aside the kind of insecurity I had in the initial phase of struggle in my career. Now I live a good, peaceful and secured life,” he added.
Sonu ventured into playback singing when he was 19 and since then he has given hit songs like “Sandese aate hain”, “Suraj hua maddham”, “Kal ho naa ho” and “Main hoon na”, among others.
The current scenario has double-meaning songs gaining lot of popularity, but Sonu insists that the trend is not new.
“Even I have sung such (double meaning) songs but that was in the initial phase of my struggle. That time there was no channel, no music album to move on, except that you get anything to sing and move on, so had to opt for playback singing. So I have struggled a lot,” said Sonu.
“That time I sang the songs that I don’t sing now like I sang “Tera paon bhaari ho gaya”. I sang because I felt that will be a hit and when it was a hit I got an opportunity to sing on stage,” Sonu said.
The singer is currently working on an English album called “Spirit Unfolding”. – IANS

Tigers can't make excuses of being unwell: Salman Khan

Action films take a toll, says Salman Khan, who is recovering from a facial nerve disorder, and adds disarmingly that a "Tiger" can't make excuses like "I am not well" , a reference of course to his action film "Ek Tha Tiger".

Action films take a toll, says Salman Khan, who is recovering from a facial nerve disorder, and adds disarmingly that a "Tiger" can't make excuses like "I am not well" , a reference of course to his action film "Ek Tha Tiger".
"I am the 'Tiger', I can't make excuses like 'I am unwell, I can't do it'," Salman, who recently underwent treatment for trigeminal neuralgia in the US, told IANS in an exclusive interview.
"I have done all the things like running, beating, falling, jumping from one place to another... if you are physically fit, you can perhaps do all this. But it takes a lot of toll on your body as you are doing the same thing the whole day," he explained.
Salman's hard work seems to be paying rich dividends as his espionage romp "Ek Tha Tiger" raked in Rs.33 crore on its opening day.
salman khan in ek tha tiger movieNow Salman wants to go back to the romantic genre.
"I am doing a romantic film soon. Action is very tough... One has to get up at odd hours, like early morning, to do action films, work till late night, do action in worst conditions like in hot weather, fighting on rooftops and dirty places. It is difficult," he said.
The 46-year-old is destiny's child. Controversy, it appears, could be his middle name; he is neck deep in legal battles and health issues and has yet emerged box-office king with back-to-back action blockbusters - "Wanted", "Dabangg", "Ready" and "Bodyguard".
All of them entered the Rs.100 crore club and "Ek Tha Tiger" is on a record-breaking spree too. After setting a new record by raking in Rs.33 crore on opening day, it has also smashed the weekend collection record by earning Rs.45 crore.
In Salman's view, with the increasing number of theatres and the rise in ticket prices, Rs.100 crore could soon be equivalent to Rs.10 crore.
salman khan's movie ek tha tiger"The exact collection starts from single screens and multiplexes in cities and small towns. With ticket prices and number of theatres also increasing, the films are likely to do a huge amount of business. Soon, this Rs.100 crore will be like Rs.10 crore," Salman said.
"And talking about the overseas business, who knows what business the film is exactly doing in overseas? Once the distributor starts giving actual figures, the numbers will definitely go up."
Salman forayed into Bollywood with 1988 film "Biwi Ho Toh Aisi" in a small role as Rekha's spoilt brother-in-law. Success was his the very next year with the 1989 romance "Maine Pyaar Kiya".
There was no looking back after that. He climbed the success ladder rapidly and churned out romantic hits like "Love", "Saajan", "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" and "Hum Dil Chuke Sanam".
He then did romantic comedies like "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi", "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" and "Partner". In 2009, he endorsed action with "Wanted", the first in the series to hit the screen.

First Look: KLPD

The first look of Sanjay Khanduri's upcoming venture, Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli (KLPD) has been released! This rom-com starring the interesting pairing of Vivek Oberoi and Mallika Sherawat is all set to hit theaters on October 5th, 2012.

While not much is known about the movie, we do know that Sherawat is going back to her roots in playing a Haryanvi character. Furthermore, she is particularly excited about this project because it calls for a more performance oriented role in contrast to her usual sensual acts. Oberoi will play a twenty-something young boy from Delhi. The film will also feature Anshuman Jha, of Love Sex Aur Dhoka fame, in a negative role.

The first look definitely serves to pique the viewer's curiosity as to what exactly will reel on the big screen. Vivek and Mallika can be seen wearing a single, gigantic red T-shirt with the tagline "Screw#d." printed in bold. While a winking Sherawat manages to look sexy even in such a ridiculous garb, Oberoi looks confused and highly uncomfortable. Bundles of cash and randomly falling bills in the background complete this unusual poster.

What are your thoughts? Is it worth looking into?

All is not well between Salman and Sonakshi?

B-Town has been buzzing about Sonakshi Sinha being missing at the screenings that Salman Khan held for his recent release. Considering that the star held a plethora of previews as well as showings on the day of the film’s release as well for his family, friends and several industry folk, Sona was conspicuous by her absence. The no-show of Dabangg Sallu’s Rajjo has been duly noted by industry folk and again raised speculation about the Sallu-Sona equation of late.
Sonakshi Sinha
No luck needed
Interestingly, when Sonakshi, who is promoting her forthcoming film, was asked about Salman’s film at a recent event in Mumbai she had quipped, “He doesn’t need any good luck wishes, his luck is already running very strong.”
Salman Khan
Quiet on the blog
Shotgun Junior, who is normally on an overdrive mode on her micro-blogging site, has also preferred to keep mum about Sallu’s film in the virtual world. But Sonakshi did not forget to tweet about Ekta Kapoor’s comic caper Kya Super Kool Hai Hum. She stated on her site, “Pls rename to Kya super duper funny hai hum... I’m still going mad laughing.” Interestingly she is part of Ekta’s upcoming film starring Akshay Kumar.
Spreading gossip
Says an insider, “Ever since Salman realised that Sonakshi had been filling in with the details of their film’s going-ons to other Bollywood folk, he has been irked. He felt she should not be gossiping about him to others. Also, of late there has been all the talk about how lucky she has been for Akshay Kumar. This further added to the growing distance between them.”
Set details
It may be recalled that in April there was buzz that Sona had been sharing details of what was happening on the sets of the sequel. When Salman apparently had a difference with his producer-director brother Arbaaz, Sonakshi had blurted it out on the sets of her Ajay Devgn film. Also when some dancers were sent back during a song shoot. Apparently Sallu did not take it too kindly for revealing the details. After all, when you rub Sallu the wrong way, he does not take it kindly. Think of SRK and VO!

Salman Khan gets his way on 'Jhalak'

Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit
Our source says, “Salman was set to appear on the jodi-special episode. As most of the jodis had chosen to perform on his film songs, the actor had specified he did not want any track on the show that was originally filmed on him and former flame Aishwarya Rai.”
Sallu also apparently demanded that no Shah Rukh Khan track was to feature on the show. The source says, “Darsheel and Avneet performed their act to SRK’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge song. Salman appeared on the show only after the song was over.”
The source adds that during the show, the actor was also spotted sketching in his notepad. However, when the show was over, he simply picked up his notebook and left, without anyone else getting a chance to have a peek at his drawings.

alman Khan refuses to promote Arjun Kapoor

It was Salman Khan who has seen the actor in Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun Kapoor when he was pursing his career in direction. Sallu forced Arjun to get into acting. He even helped him to reduce his weight. Salman shares a great rapport with Arjun. The debutante dated Sallu’s sister Arpita at one point of time and this might be the reason of their bonding. But suddenly, Salman Khan had a change of mind when he was asked to promote Arjun on twitter. He straightway refused.
Salman Khan has huge followers in twitter and so when Boney Kapoor asked the actor to promote Arjun’s film ‘Ishaqzaade’ on twitter, he said no. Salman is known to have helped many new comers in the industry. He has helped Katrina Kaif to groom her career. He has also shaped Sonakshi Sinha’s career. But what made the actor to turn down Boney’s request to promote Arjun is not yet known.
Salman has worked in Boney Kapoor's films such as 'Wanted' and 'No Entry' and they share a good relationship.

Shahrukh in legal trouble for disrespecting tricolor

Shahrukh Khan is again in the news for all wrong reason. Social worker Ravindra Brahme (40) has lodged a case against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan for disrespecting the national flag during world cup final held in April, 2011.
"We have decided to start a movement against people who show disrespect to the Indian flag and if we find such people, we will start registering complaints against them without thinking of their stature," Brahme said. "In SRK’s case, I was surfing the net and on one website I found some pictures in which he was waving the Indian flag in Mumbai after India won the cricket World Cup on April 2, 2011. While waving the flag, he ignored the fact that saffron colour was at the bottom and the green colour was on top."
He said that Khan was a role model and an iconic figure for the youth in the country and so should act responsibly. "If he indulged in such acts, the youth will also emulate him," Brahme said. "I have registered a case against Khan with the Chatushringi police station and the case has been transferred to the Bandra police station in Mumbai, where Khan resides."
Police Inspector (Crime) Subhash Nikam of the Chatushringi police station, said: "We have registered the case against Shah Rukh Khan under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour (Amendment) Act on August 14 after Brahme approached us. Since the incident had taken place in Mumbai, the case has been transferred to the Bandra police station and the police there will be investigating the matter further."
Ravindra Brahme also filed complaint against model Gehna Vashist at the Deccan Gymkhana police station for humiliating the national flag by using it as a bikini for a photo shoot in Mumbai. Gehna was arrested by Deccan Gymkhana police officials on Saturday.

Hottest women cast by the Bhatts

Sunny Leone has created quite the scene in Bollywood by acting in Jism 2, the latest offering from the Bhatt family. At this point of time, we do have to pause and think about all the hot women that the Bhatts have cast throughout their cinematic history. We got to say, the Bhatts do have a kind eye for the right women for their movies!
1.Udita Goswami: She made headlines in 2004, when she flashed her bare back at the audience in the movie “Paap” opposite John Abraham. In fact, she did the same scandalous act in her next movie with Bhatt called “Zeher”.
2.Meera: Meera is a Pakistani beauty who starred in  a Bhatt movie called “Nazar” opposite Ashmit Patel. She did not shy away from baring her skin and sparked quite a few scandalous reports in India. Her action did have serious repercussions back in her home country as well! This movie is still known for the steamy scenes she shared with Ashmit Patel.
3.Jacqueline Fernandez: Jacqueline is a Sri Lankan beauty who was chosen to take the mantle from Mallika Sherawat to act in Murder 2. She acted opposite Emraan Hashmi, and understandably, there were a lot of steamy scenes in the movie. She was quite sensuous, but her performance did fall flat, especially when compared to Mallika’s blatant sexuality in the first movie.
4.Esha Gupta: The former beauty queen was cast in Jannat 2, opposite Emraan Hashmi. She was a stunner in her sensual costumes throughout the movie and her chemistry with Emraan was sizzling! She is a formal model, a Miss India International who is not scared to bare- for she did that for her movie! She will also be cast by Bhatt in Raaz 3D. We wonder what her role is going to be like in that movie!
5.Kangna Ranaut: She is probably the most underestimated woman on this list, when it comes to her sensuality. Her performance in Bhatt films such as Woh Lamhe and Gangster were applauded, but her sensuality was certainly underappreciated. She put her sensuous best forward in Woh Lamhe, where she played an eccentric actress. Her role in Gangster was also blatantly sexual, as the mole and the tragic beauty.
6.Mallika Sherawat: Mallika Sherawat was a Bhatt find, and boy, what a find. Her introduction in Murder was really scandalous because of her daring clothes and her daring attitude as well. She also continued to make news for her blatantly sexual roles throughout her career. In fact, she is probably one of the most popular bombshells in Bollywood- certainly one of the boldest ones!
7.Bipasha Basu: Bipasha Basu created a sensation when she acted in Jism, against John Abraham in 2007. This movie had a lot of oomph and a lot of steamy, sensual scenes between John and Bipasha. Their chemistry sizzled and the movie also succeeded in the Box Office. So much so that this is one of Bipasha’s most sensuous role to date!
8. Sunny Leone: No list of Bhatt’s bombshells would be complete without the inclusion of Sunny Leone. The former porn star has turned actress for Bhatt through Jism 2, where she acts as a porn star, along with Randeep Hooda and Arunodaya Singh. This movie marks her acting debut and her entry into Bollywood.
This proves that the Bhatts are not messing around when they choose their actresses- they certainly only pick the steamiest women for their roles!

Ten most controversial movies in Bollywood history

Dirty Picture and Jism 2 have certainly ensured that the tabloids are not devoid of any controversy this year. But they are hardly the Firest movies to create such a controversy! Here is a list of some of Bollywood’s most arresting and controversial movies to date.
1.Fire: Deepa Mehta returned to stun the audience after the success of Water, with Fire. This movie, about two sisters-in-law who turned to each other for comfort, love and sex did not get a high score with the conservative Indian masses, who rejected the open lesbianism in the movie.
2.Bandit Queen: This is a story of Phoolan Devi, based on a book written by Mala Sen. Of course, the movie was shunned because of the depiction of horrible rape scenes and it’s bold portrayal of violence, sex and nudity. Even Phoolan Devi tried to stop the release of the movie! However, the movie was released and it also got a lot of attention and acclaim at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
3. Satyam Shivam Sundaram: This was a movie that was bold right from the beginning- the content of the movie was really erotic. Of course, Zeenat Aman’s costumes throughout the movie also caused a lot of controversy, as did the much hyped sex scene between Shashi Kapoor and Zeenat.
4.Aandhi: Aandhi was controversial for a completely different reason. It was a movie released, during the Emergency years, about a woman politician who resembled Indira Gandhi a little too much! The movie was banned in 1975, by Indira Gandhi. But the Janata party released the movie is 1977 when they came to power.
5.Black Friday: This was a movie about the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The controversy surrounding this movie was so high that the theatrical release of the movie was stalled for two years- for that is how long the trial ran. But the movie was eventually released and it went on to become one of the most acclaimed movies in India.
6.Chetna: When Chetna was released in 1970, it  paid a tribute to a prostitute with no tragic back story. This movie was shunned by the audience and the critic- it was shunned so bad that the actress who played the lead was never able to improve her tarnished image! 7.Ek Choti Si Love Story: This movie talks about that eternally shunned topic- the desire of an adolescent boy for an older woman. The controversy, however, became huge only when the lead of the movie, Manisha Koirala rejected the intimate scenes (shot by a body double). The actress even took to contacting the National Commission of Women and the Mumbai High court to try stopping the release of the movie.
8.Sins: This was a Vinod Pande movie, based on the topic of con men who pretend to be men of God. It portrayed a Catholic priest in a sexual relationship with a woman, which made the Christian community really angry. It was banned because of the portrayal of Christianity and also because of the explicit scenes involved.
9.Kissa Kursi Ka: Another political satire aimed at the Gandhi family again. However, this movie was aimed at Sanjay Gandhi, the man behind the Maruti Car Project. This movie did hit a hard note and it became quite popular once the emergency was lifted and Sanjay Gandhi was interrogated and jailed for a month.
10.Insaaf Ka Tarazu: Way back in 1980, B.R Chopra made a movie with a topic most filmmakers would not dare to make now. This movie was a remake of another movie called “Lipstick”. The most controversial part of the movie was the rape scene of a 13 year old girl.
